Dessert - Sauteed Apples

Updated: Feb 16, 2020

This recipe is very easy! It's a simple and quick dessert to serve for one, or for a group. Depending on how many people, the amount of applies used may vary. You can also cut them as thin or thick as you want, just adjust the cook time slightly to get the texture that you want! Serve over vanilla ice cream for an easy weeknight dessert.

Ingredients 1-4 firm apples (suggest tart like Pink Lady/Granny Smith), peeled, cored and sliced

1/2 stick of salted butter

1 cinnamon stick

1/2 teaspoon cornstarch

1/2 cup water

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Tools needed: 1 chef knife, 1 large nonstick skillet, 1 spatula

In a heavy bottomed pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the peeled, cored and sliced apples and 1 cinnamon stick. Cook until the apples are just about to the texture you want, about 5-10 minutes depending on how many apples you've used.

While that's cooking, dissolve the cornstarch in the cold water and add to the skillet. This will help thicken your apples. Stir in the brown sugar and ground cinnamon. Let this come to a boil, stirring for a couple minutes until the apples have achieved the perfect texture. Remove from the heat and serve over ice cream.
